This is a stunning piece, and I can genuinely find no flaws in it, so this critique is going to be majorly focusing on the good.

Firstly, I love the shallow depth of field - it makes the eyes, nose and whiskers pop out even moreso than they would otherwise, and that's saying something, especially when the cat's eyes are so fiercely green that they're obviously the focal point of the image.

I also love how the cat's head is inverted, it gives a kind of surreal, anthropomorphic quality to it, in my opinion, reminiscent of seeing a patient on a psychotherapist's couch.

The composition of this piece is also stunning, and very classical - with the cat's eyes being in the midline and the top and right thirds being primarily open space, and a strong line across the bottom to draw the eye from the cat's ear, across to the other, and then down into the oblivion where the cat's body is resting.

If one believes in reincarnation, then this feline was undoubtedly a fashion model in its past life. It looks as though it's been in front of a camera many times before and just naturally knows what to do (but then again, most cats love cameras ). The lighting and colors are very reminiscent to the 1970s, so this could be a vintage portrait from an issue of Cat Fancy. The cat's large green eyes also make you wonder as to what it might be thinking, feeling, or staring at. Overall, a great piece and one that just begs to be featured!
